I read Tom's summary about oats with interest. I number among those who
get sick after eating oats. But, for me, oats are constipating. But,
then that's what gluten and dairy do to me as well. If I eat any of
those three foods, my entire GI track goes on strike & refuses to work.
My old breakfast of milk and toased wheat bread or oatmeal use to stay in
my stomach for hours & hours, while I continued to feel hungry yet
stuffed. When I was pregnant all four times, I didn't have the typical
morning sickness. Instead, I would begin feeling nauseated soon after
lunch & would usually lose my breakfast & lunch between 1 & 3 PM. The
bizarre part is, I've never had diarrhea in my life. That's why my doctor
& I were both reluctant to consider celiac disease as a possible cause of
my health problems until I could no longer ignore the connection between
feeling sick and eating wheat. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
