I attended the Reno dm get-together in May & had the opportunity to see
all the new meters that are either being tested, or newly released...

Lifescan's- Fast Take
Boehringer Mannheim's- Complete
Bayer's- DEX

Wondering if anyone else has seen/is using these meters?

I'm field testing the Complete right now. It's the larger of the 3
meters, but has quite the database- can record exercise, meds, insulin,
( & for pumps) basal & bolus, doses, trends, graphs & % of time within
adjustable bg ranges. You can also customize it to track other things.
Holds 1000 readings. Especially good for someone on an insulin pump.

I had been using the AccuChek Advantage (they take the same test
strips), and have done some side by side testing- the Complete is
testing consistently lower, sometimes by more than 20 points.

The DEX is cool it comes with a wheel of about 12 test strips that "auto
feed" the strips, problem is the readings are wildly different than the
Elite when tested side by side (same drop of blood). They have delayed
the release to work out this problem.

Both the DEX & the Fast Take are like "pocketwatch" sized meters & take
minimal amounts of blood- the strip drinks the blood (if you've seen the
elite test strip, it's like that!)

The Fast Take has the smallest case & is running within normal variances
of the One Touch Profile.

Does anyone on the list use a Pen to inject insulin-- any comparisons
between the BD & Novo types?

Thanks, Fran
