Pump therapy is a great option for many children. The requirements are:
supportive family, child & family with realistic expectations
child willing to test blood sugars often, during adjustment period pre
and post meal and some 3 ams, post adjustment period - minimum 4 times/day
    willing to learn carbohydrate counting
willing to follow rules and respond to blood sugars
with good health insurance - supplies are expensive long term.
11 is a great age, with the right family and child, younger is good too.
