My son has been informally diagnosed by the doctors as having celiac.
Basically they tested him for everything else and finally said take him
off wheat and see what happens. We have not done the biobsy because it
seems so drastic. The wheat free diet has really helped. He is no
longer anemic, stools are firm and chest and nose congestion have
cleared up, plus he gained five pounds. Lately though he has started
to have asthma attacks when he has a wheat exposure. It seems that
after he has a couple of exposures to wheat he has an asthma attack. We
are now on our third attack. Though this time we purposely gave him
wheat on doctor's orders to see if there is a correlation. The doctor
says he is not allergic to wheat and to try experimenting. Most doctors
I have talk to do not want to believe or do not understand the
implications of celiac. Has anyone else had this problem with asthma?
I will post a response of any responses. Thanks Wendy Kenney
