Hi,
We are looking for some help with our 4 (nearly 5 year) year old son.
He had the usual history of symptoms which were not diagnosed by
doctors. When being gluten free he only partially improved, and when
on gluten he was classic celiac. But the tests have proved nothing.

Eventually we went to an allergist and have discoved he is also
intollerant of soy and dairy. Once we stick to a gluten, soy and dairy
free diet he is fine. But, he is far from happy. His life has become
one no after another. He is constantly rebelling against the diet, and
has become increasingly negative generally about everything. He says
no to getting dressed, will regularly refuse to eat unless he watches
TV, and generally is ruling the house. Life revolves around trying to
get him to co-operate. We can understand to some how he must feel. He
spent from 6 months to 4.5 years old being tested inside out, put on
and off diets until he got to this point, so he must be sick of it
all. But at least he is now healthier.

When he is happy he is perfect, but this is rare. As an adult we can
rationalise all this, but it is extremely difficult for him. There are
virtually no sweets/chocolates or treats we can give him - comics and
non sweet treats hold no reward for him.

Has anyone had similar issues and where did you go to get advice ?.
Are there any books on handling 'sick' kids (I admit he is not sick)
or kids with food/diet prblems.

Will summarise,
Thansk,
Donal (Waterford, Ireland)
