Finally, after weeks, we have test results on my 16-month-old son. His
celiac panel was negative. His xylose test was normal. His bone-age
study was normal. He is not anemic or deficient in protein, and there is
no fat in his stools--all are sort of good news. However, he
is still only 17.5 lbs., 29" tall, and has loose to runny BMs every day
as he has had for months.

The doctor's assistant told us to just keep feeding him a varied diet and
then come back in two weeks to have him weighed. The "varied diet" is
the same one on which he has gained no weight. He has a good appetite so
long as we avoid dairy products, to which he's quite intolerant, but the
varied diet doesn't put any weight on him. I can see his ribs. They
want me to keep feeding him everything...

We disagree--we know that oats give him an almost instant blowout and
that wheat definitely causes trouble, and it was with his first (and
only) consumption of rye bread that this problem started. Certain meats,
corn and soy seem to add to the problem as well. So we're just going to
eliminate all that stuff to see if we can put weight on him ourselves, no
thanks to them. They are not planning an endoscopy since the celiac
panel was negative.

Has anyone else had all the tests come back negative? Can anyone offer
advice?

Also, does anyone have a GF cookie recipe that uses liquid oil? We can't
use hydrogenated fat or butter because of his various sensitivities.

Thanks,
Dianne
