Well, that depends on what you want to do. In the state of North Carolina,
the age of consent is 18 for everything except alcohol and cigarettes.  You
can vote at age 18 but you can't buy cigarettes until age 21, which I think
is ridiculous.  Eighteen-year-olds can still get cigarettes from older
friends and I've not noticed that the age restriction has kept any
18-year-old from smoking.
