as i said yesterday, a city north of atlanata passed a city law requiring
every one  to own and carry a gun. while it is not enforced, the crime rate
dropped dramatically. seems just the thought that a intended victim probably
is carrying a gun deters would be perps. maybe they go to the atlanta city
limits where pickings are safer. this too flys in the face of conventional
wisdom.




Fact is, Switzerland still has the highest
legal gun ownership rate of any industrialized nation.  Held against the
knowledge that they have a relatively low rate of violent crime it does seem
incongruent with conventional wisdom that states that access to weaponry =
higher incidence of violent crime.
