Hi,
I just had to chime in here with my two cents worth. I see C.P. and
other disabilities as a social issue, not a medical issue. Why? It is
very clear to me that for some of us, our greatest wish would be to have
the ability to walk and talk normally, to be able to drive a car, to do
things one's able-bodied friends take for granted. It is aggravating to
be different, as our African American friends know. You want to be the
same way because society says that in order to be successful, one must
be a certain way, otherwise, society will hold you back... To be a
winner in today's world, one must beat the odds in some way. Even the
pwd's have bought into the Fallacy... That's why we hold up the
wheechair athletes as heroes, and forget about the average person with
disabilities, who make less then the poverty level. If society would
change and be more inclusive of pwd's before we ask them to, there would
be less envy of able bodied people, and more of a sense that diversity
across the board is good!

Just my $.02!!!
