I haven't yet made up my own mind about the wisdom of waging war in Iraq.
One thing DOES stick in my craw, though, and that is the way the media
elites (TV/Film stars, etc.) create their own bully pulpits.

For example, why should I care one whit about Sean Penn's views on the
middle east situation?  What makes him more knowledgeable re: foreign policy
than me?  Oh, oh, I get it!:  More that likely, he's played a CHARACTER who
knew something about policy, therefore....

It's sort of like the old actor (name escapes me at the moment) who said in
the antacid commercial, "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV."  For many
folks that's good enough.

Going back to my bomb shelter now.

Chamberlain read the above statement in front of 10 Downing St. and said:
"My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime
Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it
is peace for our time...
Go home and get a nice quiet sleep."

The folks who were involved in the peace demonstrations should give the
above historical apostrophe' a good, long think.

       I have very mixed emotions about Bush and this war. It seems to me
that we need to concentrate on getting bin Laden. But the protests here and
around the world were "music" to the Arab press.Those of us in the heart
land
are sick of the West Coast weinies who might be big on the tiny screen,
thinking they know foreign policy.If Joan and Bonnie want to really protest,
let them camp for a month on the outskirts of Baghdad. That would be a REAL
protest. Let them sitt through a few B-52 strikes and then I would respect
them.
