I've actually eaten chocolate-covered ants - really.  I went to a dinner at my
Anthropology professor's house when I was in college, and he had brought some
home from his field trip to Africa.  I tried one, athough with much fear and
anxiety.  They weren't too bad, kind of crunchy, but I never ate one again.
