Howdy,

I just answered an e-mail to the entire list of supporters of a local
official. He was calling for the support of George W. and this was my
response:

<>

My response:

"Those of us with disabilities recall that President Bush signed the ADA. We
have not seen such support for the disability community from his son. It is
particularly disconcerting, and appears to be a representative example, that
Texas steadfastly remained in opposition to the tenets of the ADA with regard
to Georgia v. L.C. and E.W.

The abysmal employment rate of disabled Americans is virtually unchanged
since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. It is
unconscionable that any candidate would blatantly and brazenly ignore this
fact, moreover to openly support the unlawful and immoral imprisonment and
segregation of disabled citizens.

Furthermore, Mr. Bush should be concerned by the additional expense required
of taxpayers to unnecessarily warehouse otherwise employable individuals,
when they can live in their communities with community based assistance.
Citizens of conscience -- disabled and nondisabled -- respectfully demand to
know how long this silent policy will continue to be the American way?

Under current practice, no citizen remains safe, unless he remains
nondisabled.

As a citizen of the United States, I cannot in good conscious support a
candidate who does not stand for the most basic principles outlined by our
founding fathers. I am disappointed that you have chosen to back such a man.

Sincerely,
Betty R. Alfred"

Oh, I'm in a mood today!
