you think the people there would bash your windows for
having a peace sticker on your car? i thought the
hiwaiians were pretty liberal people. 

i agree that the big island has a whole different feel
from oahu. the only draw back to the big island is
health care. if you need major care you have to be
flown to oahu to queen emma. 

back in the 80's i had most of my small investments in
real estsate and i run up on two "old maid" sisters
(sorry if that is not politically correct, but that is
what i know to describe them) both engineers who had 2
acres fee simple north of hilo planted in macadamias
for sell. i'd have bought it if i could have got some
of my real estate sold in time. i rented in that area
on my first big island visit and loved it. the two
engineers had planned on building there when they
retired, but at 80 and 75 said they did not want to go
though with a building project then. if i'd got that
property i'd probably build on it now. 

maybe after my son is out of school...
