Not sure if you meant this for all, of a select few, but I have gotten out
and got very real!
My trip to MD Anderson Cancer Hosp. In Houston was extremely informative and
in the nick of time. By the time I got there my white count had doubled in 6
months time, and platelets began to crash- the last onc. appt. in Oct.
things were in the OK zone.
So were are talking with this dr. about clinical trials he had going, and
said that with my counts going the way they were, and my spleen growing to
gigantic proportions (5x normal) that it was time to treat. In Kyle and my
mind, we were thinking we had a few months to consider being a guinea pig.
When asked when I should start thinking about treatment the doc says I
should start the next day--Yikes! We were to leave the next day. But with
God's hand all over the details, everything was in line (including flights,
childcare, hotel and car--not to mention all the details MDA handled for us
was in line and we were ready to go.
The first day I received a monoclonal antibody--it was hell, and an all day
infusion. The next 3 days were a breeze. Mr Kyle was wonderful during the
whole process--very support, and loving, and treated me like a princess the
whole time--what a wonderful guy I've got!
So, I have 5 more cycles (4 days each) about a month apart. This all should
end by summer

Bobby, we will back in Houston about the 2 or 3rd week in March, and then
again sometime in June. Maybe we could link up again--should would like to
do San Antone again--what a hoot!
Ken, so good to come back to your corny humor!
Betty, glad you got some new companions, sounds you need the large economy
size if bird seed.
ISM, hope all is going well in your igloo of a city. Thanks for your
encouragement before the trip!
Thanks for all you messages of support and care. As most of you know we are
Christians and know that God carried us through an amazing week.
Both Kyle and I have been asked to chronicle our experiences both as patient
and spouse on www.Healthtalk.com--but I think this will be awhile--we're not
in writing mode yet!
So glad to be on the road to a remission (no matter how long) and Christmas
held an extra sparkle this year. Would you believe we got a direct flight
from Houston to Columbus on Dec. 23 (even got upgraded to 1st class) and it
arrived ahead of schedule!
God is so good!
Thanks for holding us in your thoughts and prayer.
Love, Laura and Kyle Cleveland
