WITH TED KENNEDY, JR

CELEBRATE THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT AND
THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES EDUCATION ACT

DAY LONG CELEBRATION WITH ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT, WIth
TED KENNEDY, JR AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER

CELEBRATING DISABILITY RIGHTS

Disability organizations are collaborating to organize a day-long series of
activities in celebration of the progress made in our community because of
the Americans with Disabilities Act  (ADA) and the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Ted Kennedy, Jr. will be the keynote. Other activities include musicians,
vocalists, dancers, magicians, storytellers, clowns, poets and writers,
wheelchair painting, wheelchair sports, and much more - all performers have
disabilities with unlimited abilities.

This festive, educational, and commemorative event also includes displays,
films, demonstrations, and vendors. The event is open to the general public.

WHEN: July 26, 2000
10:00 am - 7:00 PM
Ted Kennedy, Jr. will speak at 4:30 PM

WHERE: Sullivan Middle School/Communications Center
100 East 28th Street, Minneapolis

SPECIAL NOTES:

* A list of spokes people is available who can talk on how the ADA and IDEA
have impacted them as well as the community.

* A list of the artists scheduled to be at the event is attached.The
committee is working on getting local able-bodied sports celebrities to
play a game of wheelchair basketball with a local wheelchair basketball
team, the Rolling Timberwolves.

* Ted Kennedy, Jr. is a nationally recognized motivational speaker, who was
involved with disability issues on a personal level when ADA was passed by
Congress and signed into law by former President George Bush on July 26,
1990.

** This event is open to the general public and will be free admittance.
