I guess we'll have PETA seeking reporations for honey taken over the years
from generations of honey bees.

As a high schooler I had a very large hive of bees. In taking the honey, you
always were sure to leave more than enough for the bees to make it through
the winter. Poor toiling bees, I kept their mother in little shackles to be
sure they would not leave. I also let them know that if they did not get
their quota of nector, "the queen gets it." You had to be heartless to keep
bees in line.
