Oh, ok.  Yeah, that was House Bill 5, which passed last year.  Dubya sure won't veto this one.  Looks like a fore-gone conclusion to me.  I'm a fence-sitter on this one:  I'm all for tort reform, especially when a big portion of my physician's bill goes to pay for her malpractice insurance, but a quarter-mil cap does seem a bit low.

We (the US citizenry in general) have painted ourselves into this corner, IMO.  When juries go handing multi-million dollar awards to folks that don't know McDonald's coffee is hot, there's bound to be an eventual backlash.  Everyone is so damned litigous that when a REAL screw-up comes down the pike it oft gets lumped with the frivolous litigation.
