Ken,

A "true" third party would be great, but with campaign financing, it's not
too likely. If we had a Parliamentary system with a prime minister, it
would be easier, at least to get a third party candidate in on the executive
level. As it is the "independents" in Congress usually caucus with the
Democrats, and I'll bet that gets uncomfortable for Joe Lieberman at times.

I'm also singularly unimpressed with candidates from either party right
now. As we saw in 2000, a third party candidate (Nader) can really muddy
the waters. I like his stand on the issues in most cases, but I can't help
thinking if he hadn't run in 2000 Al Gore would have been elected, and
things would be at least somewhat better than they are now.

Kendall

An unreasonable man (but my wife says that's redundant!)

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one
persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress
depends on the unreasonable man.

-George Bernard Shaw 1856-1950
