But why would that make the parents agree to the marriage?  If I were  
this girl's parents, I would have said to hell with him and turned  
him over to the authorities.  If you ask me, the parents are the  
idiots  here.  I admit  that's easy for me to say because I'm  not a  
parent but still ....
