Joanne writes:

 "It's a fine
line to know when to not intervene and let nature take it's required course
and when active intervention will lead to the end of a disabled life. All
life is sacred but all life will also come to and end. It is definetly a
volatile subject."

That is the problem: who decides and when and why they decide on death.
Openning up the valve on a morphine drip for terminal cancer patients is
done everyday. It's a real scary business. Suicide(Assisted or not) is
sometime a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Just my .02 cents
