First off, I think just about every adult with cp no matter if they walk
unassisted, with aides, or are not ambulatory, daily face many tasks where
"they can do it, it just takes a little longer."  At least that pretty much
sums up my whole day!  :D

Personally, as long as I don't detect any whiff of pity or condecension, I'm
never offended if help is offered.   I just consider offering aide to others
as good old fashioned manners!  Hey, when going into a store- I hold the door
open for the person behind me, even if it's a perfectly healthy able-bodied
big strapping man.  They don't "need" the door held open, but it's good
manners.  Does anyone ever stop and think, "That BoyScout might offend the
sweet little ole lady if he offers to help her cross the street?"  What about
a person who offers their seat on the bus or subway to a pregnant woman?  Is
this seen as offensive?  - Do we even see people being that well mannered
anymore?

I digress!  I guess my whole long winded point was that NO, I don't get
offended.  Like I said before, as long as the person offering help doesn't
treat me like I'm mentally challenged or say things like, "Oh you poor
thing."  Yikes!  That I find offensive.  - Hope this helps:  Denise.
