AKNG and other State Defense troops regularly have dicey encounters with
Russia. The AK Air Guard C-130 and KC-130 aircraft are often shadowed by
Russian fighters. These are state, not federal, flights that follow the
corridor over the Bering Straits. Russia is almost as close to mainland
Alaska at the straits as Cleveland is from the northern shore of Lake Erie.
I'd rather be 50 miles from Canada than Russia!

We're on the road again, headed south. Latest I heard was SW Arkansas. The
troops were working this evening dusting body bags with corn starch this
evening in order to keep them from sticking together and to allow bodies to
be easily adjusted in order to get the bag sealed. Sobering. I ain't
looking forward to this.
