deri, i volunteered to try to learn to help on the list admin job. where
should i look first to begin the learning process?

It's not quite that simple. The posts which the list server sends
out contain three header lines which are relavent here:-

   From: <original author>
   Reply To: <list server>
   Cc: <cross posted copy addresses>

It is entirely up to your mail program how they handle these
headers. My mail agent has two button called "Post" and "Mail".

   Left Click on "Post" sends to Reply To address
   Right Click on "Post" sends to Reply To address, with copies
     to From: and any Cc:
   Left Click on "Mail" sends to From address
   Right Click on "Mail" sends to From address, with copies to
     Reply To: and Cc:

What I'm trying to say is that the problem isn't the List Server,
its because most people use a M$ program to receive mail which
appears to have been designed by a rather large committee who
didn't ask users what they wanted, just how pretty can we make it
look!! Sorry, can't help.
