Bobby: As far as I'm concerned- listening is part of support. Although we
focus on issues of disability, the group is also here to help support other
life issues. Grief from loss is never easy. Loss of a loved one, of
mobility, of a job - they all bring pain. The level and depths differ, but
pain and confusion in any amount often feel insufferable. (I only speak for
myself when I say, "Don't ever feel you have to apologize or thank me for
being there." I sometimes over look the fact that being a memeber of a
"support" group doesn't JUST mean I am here to help others. I'm a control
freak and find it difficult to ask for help no matter how much I desperately
need or want it. You too may have had difficulty venting. That is why I am
grateful and respect the fact you feel comfortable enough with the group to
share your pain. Most people try to carry the heavy emotional burden alone.
(I know I often do) Most end up falling under the weight. (I have- been flat
on my face more times than I care to admit) I'd like to Thank You Bobby,
for reminding me of what support really means. If there is anything I can do
to lighten the load, please let me know. In the mean time, I'll keep a good
thought for you and your wife during this difficult time. - Denise
