Kristina,

I am not sure what you mean by "thigh tendons"...if you mean the tendons 
behind the knees (hamstrings) then here is my two cents on that...

I had this surgery when I was in my late 20s because I was battling almost 
constant hip flexor tendonitis.  Docs thought the surgery may take some of 
the stress off of that area and improve my gait to be "less abnormal". 
Well, I can definitely say that I walk better now with less fatigue, but it 
did nothing for my hip tendonitis.  Post surgery I have almost no strength 
in the hamstrings and can't actively bend my legs at the knee past 90 
degrees, making curbs and steps more challenging.  But overall I am pleased 
I did it just because now I can walk a few blocks without being exhausted.
