Is Johnathan able to be empathetic with other people?  I mean does he understand that other people can get hurt?  How is his motor control?  At five years old he might be ready for a pediatric powerchair I know you might not be ready to let him off your leash, but children need independence... From what you said, I gather mentally he is fine, his body isn't.
