After all he IS only 4 years old. That day is a long way off. But if he is capable, then I see no reason to keep him in the nest, so to speak, when his time comes to fly. I also see no reason at this point, with the social supports we have in Canada and with the technology available, that he won't be able to support himself and live at least semi-independently. I have learned that that is possible from so many of you here on this list. 

I'm of the school of parenting that you give your kids the best start you can in life, then they have to become independent. I don't want Bobby (my son, not our professor <grin>... ) living with us either when he's 30! OMG, I'll be 65!!! I think parents should get to retire too. ;-)

That said, I am really in no hurry to see that day come, Bobby (the professor)! I can't believe the last 4 years have gone by as quickly as they have. Where have my "babies" gone? Believe me I'm trying to enjoy every moment! :-) They are such fun at this age.
