Ken,

You have hit the nail on the head about atrocities and religion but in
truth it is not the religion - it is the people - and we seem to not be able
to seperate people's actions which are individuals choices - which includes
their interpetation of the religion. After all does the Bible not say - Thou
Shalt not kill. Have you ever seen anyone who takes this literally? Nope, it
is translated into a form they can justify, so we killl cockroaches,
criminals and "the enemy". And Jesus says - My little Children love one
another. - again people love the people who reflect what they think is
lovable. If we worried more about following the dictates of our individual
belief systems and less with tailoring to how we think it should go - There
would be less violence. There is nothing wrong with Islam - The is nothing
wrong with Christianity. There is something very wrong when individuals
interpet it to justify their agenda. Think people not religion. Also we need
to get away from the knee jerk reactions of ever escalating violence - where
does it end - eventaully in a smoking planet. I do believe Jesus said
something about turning the other cheek. I think thinking about the long
term consequences it vital. Also we spend a lot of time putting out fires
yet we never look for the cause. Actions everyone of them are like ripples
in the pond after you throw a stone - don't throw the stone and there will
be no ripples.

                         Brightest Blessings - Trisha
