this reminds me of the time my ex and i were in russia; his boss threw a
dinner at a tiny place. i ordered salad, which is almost unheard of in
russia. anyway, it came with a nice scoop of fish eggs on it. and
suddenly,
I felt like the kids in the mikey ad... ;-) i turned to my ex and said, oh,
look honey, doesn't that look good? Of course tim didn't know what it was,
and i got him to eat a spoonful of it. he said it was ok. but he wanted to
know what it was... his boss told him, tim, it's caviar... my ex looked
like
he was going to be sick... one of my not so nice moments, i know.

Russia, and moscow in particular, had a mcdonalds where in the middle of
freezing winter weather, people would stand in line for two hours to get a
burger and fries - that would cost about ten bucks. Furthermore, you could
phone them from the hotel, and in about 45 minutes somebody would deliver it
to your room! we ended up doing this for our first anniversary. because tim
slept right thru the hotel's dinner time. it cost about 45.00 bucks for 4
burgers, two cokes, and 3 fries.
