Anthony,

Is it possible that he might not have a good match for his communication
device? I also encounter postings occasionally from this person on
another listserv I monitor for work, and he's come up with a database of
songs hat his communication device can sing, so I'm pretty sure he's
successfully using it.

Where I live, which is a "profoundly rural" state, short of hiring
attendants individually and paying them out of your own pocket, which
few of us would be able to afford, folks with lifelong disabilities are
forced to qualify for waiver services, which usually means MR/DD or
mental health, or if the person is old enough, the aging waiver.

An unreasonable man (but my wife says that's redundant!)

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one
persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all
progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I know that I probably shouldn't be questioning this guy, but he has a
history himself of burning bridges calling for more problems. I know
when
he was living in Minnesota, he had lots of attendant care problems, but
he
wasn't using his communication device to communicate with them, so they
were
spending most of their time just to figure out what he was saying
frustrating the attendants. Don't get me wrong, I know we do have some
bad
apples as attendants but most are good and want to help, but if they
don't
understand the client's communication it leads to frustration.

Thanks,
Anthony
