Hi ya'll,
Ok - let me try and type this one up real quick for you, it's probably the
'oddest' thing that's ever happened to me, and I thought it was funny - although
I'm not sure my brother did.........
We work at the same place, a hospital in Fishersville VA. He's a maintenance
worker, I am a computer operations specialist. A few years back, my brother got
sick for a few days, and it just so happened the sickness occurred on 'pay day
week'. (we get paid every two weeks here). So, he called me and asked if I
could pick up his check for him. I said I'll find out if I can, most folks at
the hospital know we are brother and sister, so it should be no problem. I
called my brother's supervisor, and he said sure Beth, no problem. So, I
retrieved the check. While walking down the hall, with some of my paperwork,
and his check in my hands, I decided to detour to the bathroom to empty my
ostomy bag. So, I went into the bathroom, and laid my papers and the check on
the edge of the sink. I elect to stand up and empty my bag because the bags are
not long enough to do it in a 'lady-like' way. I was standing there holding my
bag in my left hand, emptying it, when the papers "flew" off the sink. My
natural instinct, was to "try to catch". Let's put it this way - I didn't try
to catch with my right hand! As I "jumped" to try to catch everything, urine
went everywhere......... including my brother's paycheck. So, I got out of the
bathroom, and laid it on a town, on the air conditioner to try to dry it. I
called him at home to tell him what happened, and I ended up having to open the
envelope to see how bad the check was - lucky for me, not much damage........
can you imagine walking into payroll's office and telling them they had to cut
another check? Their question would be "and why is that", and mine would have
to be "well, because I peed on the other one"...
