Congratulations on your scholarship!
As someone who has spent more time at an institution of higher learning than
is probably good for anyone I would like to offer some advice for dealing
with the bureaucracy and keeping the funds awarded to you come the spring
term.

First of all, never give any thing back until (or if) you are forced to do so.
There are a variety of strategies you can  legitimately use to attempt keep
the scholarship.  To summarize what I have read so far. . .

1.  Take your situation to the school's ADA compliance officer.  Every public
institution of higher learning has to have one.  Ask about it at your school.
 If they say they don't have an "ADA compliance officer" ask, "Who on staff
is responsible for insuring ADA cpmliance with regard to the school's
policies and procedures?"  Make someone give you a name.  (Once you have a
name, contact that person and state your case directly to him or her.

2.  Also, take this to the folks in the school's Office of Disability
Resources and Services (the folks who have been helping you with other
issues).  Even if you feel like you are repeating yourself, it's good to have
as many people supporting you on this as possible.


Whatever you do, don't just give the money back without trying to keep it.
Steve M. is right, schools have wide discretionary powers when deciding how
scholarship funds are allocated.  Also, now is the time that you arecreating
your first impression on the falculty and staff.  Better to be known as a
person who can and will advocate for herself than someone who will go away as
sonn as someone else says "No, you can't have that."
