Thanks for the info. My husband and I do not count Social Security income when we are planning for retirement (we're in our mid-40s), but we had counted on SSI for our son. Even without privatization, we should be considering that SSI alone could be insufficient since it all comes from that shared pool of dwindling money. Drat!  Ah well, at least we have enough advance notice to begin to make other plans.
