I know, Bobby, I was just havin' a little fun...well, I better get back to
reading Huxley's "Brave New World..." Big ;>)

When's your flight out?

The saga of Laura's grandma continues...Mom (actually my mother-in-law) went
over to the retirement center to pick up Grandma's stuff in her garage and
someone had broken the lock and stolen everything. I do mean everything.

She had been collecting Royal Daultons for her Grandaughters and
Great-Grandaughters for years. Finally, this year, she had completed her
search for the figurines with each of the girl's names ("Anna", "Adrienne",
"Abigail", etc.). At the funeral, Laura's mom told all the little ones that
"Gee Gee" (nickname for great grandma) had a very special present for each
one of them and that they would get them at Christmas-time. The girls that
are old enough to understand what's going on will be heartbroken.

I couldn't beleive the garage when I saw it this morning. It was like
someone had swept it clean with a broom! I told Laura that they even stole
Grandma's stuff that I'd be embarrassed to have in my garbage (she was an
unrepentant pack-rat!).

There was one keepsake that was priceless to me and Grandma had promised it
to me, but only after she passed. She had a mechanical/ electrical Santa
that would wag his head and ring a bell. The thing was at least 50 years
old. The coolest thing was that its eyes would glow red! Laura and I were
married Dec. 22 and we had a Christmas meal with all the family at Gee Gee's
for our wedding rehearsal dinner. When I saw the Santa, I immediately
dubbed him "Satan Claus" because of the red eyes. It's become a family joke
and a huge tradition to break out and fire up Satan Claus at her holiday
dinner every year (scares the bejabbers out of the little ones!). We've
lost Gee Gee, and now we've lost Satan Claus. Man, I sure do miss her.

Bobby, give your mamma a big hug for me when you see her next. Tell her
it's from somebody up north that wishes he could hug a certain someone.

-Kyle

Kyle & Trish

The counseling guru, Carl Rogers, spoke of phenomenology. Basically
the three of us could observe a "reality" of some kind and come away with
our own and, frequently, very different interpretations of what we
observed. To that extent, we do create our own realities. The basis of
effective communication is coming to understand others' "take" on "reality".

Just my philosophical .02 cents worth.
