Hi Bobby,

    Not real sure all the world is using the same standard. Amber got a 135+
on her last IQ test - it came with a disclaimer about its validity becasue
she lost points for speed and didn't get bonus points becasue of her
disability - testor stated IQ higher but could not give figure. To some
degree extreme intelligence stands out whether or not we announce it - other
wise we wouldn't have stereo type for geeks, nerds etc.  We need to
accomodate bright child just like we do disable ones, or they get into
mischief or are bored stupid. Amber even GT classes - is bored, but in the
regular classes - she is frightened by kids inability to grasp simple
concepts they have gone over for years. I posted this article because many
people have misconceptions about peoples intelligence - high - low or
inbetween, and IQ tests and what they show. I learned several facts from the
articles I didn't know - as it had never been of any real interest to me. My
parents had told me how stupid I was - and I believed them. Which was silly
becasue my grades and ability to run circles around people mentally, plus
the ability to read a 1,000 words a minute - should have told me otherswise.
My concern is Amber is not faced with those kinds of difficulties - a mind
is terrible thing waste.  I don't really thinkk that IQ and academic
achievement correlate - that well - Einstein didn't do to hot in school.
What teach we in school is the ability to reguratate back facts, we don't
teach thinking. Our educational system could use a revamp but then so could
our whole society. The posts are exactly what they say they are
informational tidbits - besides I need someting to keep my mind busy  and I
like to share.
