I agree with Meir - always get a 2nd and 3rd opinion for surgery.  Chester,
it depends - a brace offers support, not necessarily affects the flow of
CSF.

I had surgery at C3 - C5 back in 2001 but that wasn't a full fusion; it was
to remove bone spurs and I can still turn my head fairly freely.  Having
said that, a fusion is irreversible and you DO want to get more opinions.
