In 1980, we were in Zapata, 90 miles up river from McAllen, when a hurricane
came ashore at South Padre. Lots of rain and evacuees from the lower valley.
We owned a motel and were full for 2 weeks. They eye passed to the north of us
and I observed the palm trees blown in a 360 degree trun in about 30 minutes.
