As Ken and Bobby said, CP isn't something you "get over." Your
statement reminded me of some "well meaning 'friends'" of my mom when I
was in school. They were positive that if my/her faith were strong
enough, that I could be "normal." I've got two major problems with
that.
1. I think I was and am pretty much normal, even if I do use a
wheelchair. I did "normal" things other kids did, although maybe a
little differently;
2. G_d probably had (and has) other things in mind for me than
testing my faith (or my mom's faith, for that matter) with my
disability. I'm not sure what those things are, but I think if I do the
best I can with what I've got, G_d will be OK with that.
As far as "getting over CP," I think we learn better ways to cope with
the challenges that we encounter, whether they be physical obstacles, or
the attitudes of others. I've learned to just ignore people like my
mom's former "friends," because it's just not worth the effort to try
and educate some people. I spend a _lot_ of time personally and
professionally working with little kids on disability awareness
activities, because they seem to be the most receptive. That doesn't
mean I ignore older kids and adults, but I give them about three chances
and move on.
You said the first IL center you checked out was "too expensive." Get
in touch with the folks at the Waismann Center, and find out if they
have someone who can help you to develop a plan to achieve the level of
independence you'd like. Here's contact info.

Acceptance is action and action is an ongoing process.
For example, if you let others "decide for you", that is not action it's
giving up. Action is looking into where you might want to stay and
making a
decision. You speak of "accepting CP" as if it were an event, but it is
not,
it is a lifetime process.
