Dear Beth, I live in Norfolk the first 9 mounts I was here in Virginia. and I
lived on First View st. right at the Farm Fresh and the post office on First
View. and it was a really bad place there. there was 2 murders and 2 drug
raids and to sex for sale raids in the building I lived in. It was all I
could affoward at the time on my socical security disibility check. I moved
in the apt. I am in now in Novermebr of 98. The rent is based on your
income. and it is nice here. the apt. is made for handicapped people. and the
one in Norfolk was not. I could not even get into my bathroom there. I did
not get to see a lot of Norfolk when I was there. I did not have any money to
go out. and I did not (and still don't) have any family there. I do not have
a family because of my CP. my parents did not like haveing a Child born with
CP. so now we are not in touch with each othere any more. so learing my way
around was not easy. but I have been to some of the public events at the
Ocean View Park. and I enjoyed them a lot. and I have heard of the Chryler
Museum. and the Town Point Park. and there is a huge mall in down town
Norfolk. it is called the McAuther Center. it is real nice there. and I have
been to the Norfolk Scope a few times. There is a new really big boardwalk at
the Ocean Front here in Virgina Beach. A friend and I hopeful will be able to
go there sometime soon. she is married with two children. and it is hard for
her to get away. and I need help getting my wheelechair out of the car. so I
can not go there alone. and thay started building a really big Business and
Apt and shops center at the intersection of Virginia Beach Blvd and
Indendpendence Blvd. it will open sometime in late 2001 or early 2002.
Have you heard of the Plasentvally Market place. it is a shopping center real
close to me. I can go there in my powered wheelechair, with out crossing the
street. I know where Virginia beach Blvd is and LynnHaven Parkway and
Indendpendence is. I am on them all the time. and I am learning Indina River
Area. and the Frwell Parkway area is real close to me. Everything looks a
like here. so haveing some truble learing land marks to find my way around.
but I am slowly getting there. Lynn
