I'm like you, Kat, If I know there's a snake, I don't freak out.  But the
ones that scare me are rats and mice, even dead ones if I'm not expecting
them.  I touched lots of the snakes at camp paivika and Joan Meir...  I love
watching them on TV. The only time I was scared was when Steve Irwin was in
Africa and fooling with spitting cobras-sometimes he's just plain stupid
about trying to pick them up with bare hands. common spiders aren't an issue
for me, but huge tarantulas scare me.
