Wow! We're here--a lot closer than I thought we'd be and a lot closer than
I want to be. One of the DMORT teams has a cadaver dog with the and has
been on patrol, though I don't know if the dog's had any "hits" yet. I am
working with city and county engineering staff to coordinate with our folks
to inspect bridges and non-home structures. We are sceduled for a flyover
of downtown Houston this moning once the sun's up and the storm's
stop--there's still a lot of rain falling and some lightning. The biggest
problem is lack of power, and is is so dog-gone humid. My glasses keep
fogging.

One of our nurse-practitioners is getting his Masters in Public Health
(MPH) at Ohio Stateand he brought a bunch of "Buckeye" stickers to put on
our humvees. He threw them away in disgust this morning. I went to
bed during the game, but it was like a go-zillion to three when I called it
a night. Sill don't know what the final score was.

The wind damage at ground level, from what I've seen so far (which isn't
much), isn't as bad as what I saw in Charley. But the flooding is just
awful. Up high, on the skyscrapers, the wind damage is pretty bad. I'll
let you know about it after my overflight this morning.

I scared (and grossed out) one our nurses last night. I have a mild case of
amblyopia ('lazy eye") that gets really bad when I'm tired. Well, I came
down with a bad migraine headache last night and needed some Imitrex, but
you have to be examined before the pharmacists will give you meds. My right
eye had rolled so far that the iris wasn't visible. Because of the migraine
she thought I waas having a stroke and I said,"No, wait. I can use each eye
independently and every time I tried to look through my right eye it would
roll right back into position and slowly roll up when I looked through my
left. She said she thought she was gonna blow chunks. LOL!
Does any other adult on this list have this eye issue?

Sun's up and I gotta go. I'll let you know later what I see. The Colonel
has asked us not to post any pictures online without them being reviewed by
his office and Public Affairs. I have seen $5+ gas down here. Ridiculous
that prices would go up a buck and a half on fuel already in the system. I
haven't been out enough to see how much they're asking for staples like milk
and bread. I haven't heard of a crime wave or looting. Has anyone seen
anything about it on the news?

Kyle
