Blood pressure's fine ken. ;-)

And I assure you I have been reading the site (else I couldn't be argueing
such good points with you). :-)

You brought up a point about tax avoidance occurring under the current system
(as if this counteracted my point about trivial avoidance strategies). In the
UK most direct tax is collected under PAYE (the onus is on your employer to
calculate and collect the tax on your income). We also have self certificated
tax returns where you declare any income outside your main employment (i.e.
savings interest, share dividends, self employment etc.) but the bulk of your
income has already been taxed.

The off-shore fiddles the rich do are to do with keeping their accumulated
wealth away from the tax man (not their current income - we all know that
money makes money - its this "pot" they try to hide). The point I tried to
make is that, under FairTax, everyone could move the bulk of their main
income and spending overseas, and the Government would see none of it.

Must clock off now, got a long drive to Winchester first thing.

Cheers

Deri
