Wow, Cindy! What an awesome perspective.
I believe, and have heard Kyle speak to this issue as well, that through
our broken physical bodies (Kyle-CP, me- cancer) we can become stronger,
more compassionate towards others, and view this life as such a precious
gift. Does this life suck at times? By all means! Does it hurt to see my
husband in pain most of the time? Of course! It's almost too much for me
to think I might not see my kids to adulthood. But I understand that this
is not how God intended this world to be, and that He has had an incredible
plan for me before I was even born---just hard for us to see it through our
myopic view.
We, as Christians, have such an awesome promise of heaven where there is
no pain, gimped up bodies and ugly incurable diseases-- and of course,
spending eternity with the God of the universe is nothing to sneeze at
either!
Just thought you summed up the whole concept of living "beyond the
circumstances" so well. As Paul put it "our light and momentary
afflictions"--that being in the scheme of eternity.
Take care, keep writing!
Laura
