Friends: In conjunction with many other organizations in the senior and
disability community, we are
asking you to join the Medicare "Call Congress Campaign."  The idea is to
get our community to mobilize
calls to Congress during a three-day period: next Wed., Thurs., and Friday,
September 28, 29, and 30. We
have set up a toll-free number for this purpose (which has been donated by
the National Committee to
Preserve Social Security and Medicare.)

We're urging people to call their Senators and Representative and ask them
to:

o    KEEP MEDICARE STRONG by using the federal budget surplus to strengthen
its finances.

o   ADD PRESCRIPTION DRUGS to Medicare's benefits to modernize the program
and to keep people healthy.

o   AVOID MAKING RADICAL CHANGES that privatize Medicare or that penalize
people who don't want to join
an HMO.

We urge you to participate by calling and getting your colleagues to call
Congress.
