I can't do anything about this curve ball Steve, but at least she will know
that a lot of people care about her.

She frequently talks about being afraid, and I don't doubt that she is.  I
haven't seen any of her friends lately.  She has a couple of friends of 40 or
so years who call periodically; they live out of town.  But the people she
has done the most for in this area never call or visit.  She's given so much
of herself for so long to one of her organizations, I am genuinely surprised
that no one from her chapter ever bothers to contact her.

This so mirrors my own experience with people after I became disabled.  I
hate to see this happen to her.  I just didn't think it would happen with the
geriatric set, to be honest.  I don't know why I thought that.
