Even in terms of their own population stats, 5 million is huge and the road
to building back up is going to be immense. But of all the countries
today, they are probably the best-equipped to do it in terms of money and
manpower.

But if we put this perspective against their population - 1330 million
- 5 million still a lot of people but only a wee percentage of their
population - we have but a fraction of the population of China - we have
304 million people - they have like a billion more people than us. Scary
huh!!

According to the BBC, there are now 5 million people left homeless by
the
earthquake and aftershocks in China=2E To imagine the scope of this,
consider that there is total of about 9 million people in the state of
North Carolina - this is more than half the population of my state!
