You can't just hand a device to somebody. they have to test a variety to
see which one will work best for the person.  by the way, there are a group
of folks all with speech impairments, that have formed a business called
communication at ease, they design communication booklets, overlays, etc,
for pwd. this group is part of the micro-enterprise group at the cp center
that I'm involved in. 

they were at supported life last month, and got a number of requests from
calif state dept of develp. dis. they are also going to hospitals and
nursing homes........ There was even a lot of interest from an aug. device
maker who said he'd love to give his customers something they can use for
the 4 months it takes to get a device into their hands. and while they are
using the booklet they can be familarizing themselves woith the symbols.
great idea!
