Bill and others,

Yes, I do think some jobs may be better suited to folks with disabilities
because there is an empathy piece there.  For example, I am a 5th grade
teacher.  I get the kids in my class that have physical disabilities (but
are in regular education) because I tend to stretch them or at least be a
positive role model that you can't let a disability stop you from reaching
your goals in life.  The other teacher I team with (non-disabled) typically
doesn't connect as well with these kids and they struggle for her even as
they thrive for me.  Of course there are other factors, but...Related to
that, I think there are teachers out there with learning disabilities that
make great learning support teachers because they have been where the kids
are and understand what it is like.
