I'm guessing that my listmates have avoided engaging you directly because a
purely political debate will alienate list members.  It's counter productive
to write off 50% of the list (assuming that the membership approximates
voter registration).  If you have a candidate with a position on an issue
that's germane, and you want to get into specifics, I think some of us would
be happy to discuss him/her with you.
