When I was a senior in college, two months from graduating with honors, my
paternal grandmother died. Some of the grandsons, including my brother and
me,
were asked to be pall bearers. My brother came up to get me(it was about a
60 mile drive) and we were on our way to her funeral. Two cars in front of
us had a head-on collision, my brother and I were in our "Sunday Best" in
the rain on a two lane black top, pulling bleeding and screaming people out
of the cars. One guy was impaled on his steering wheel. When we finally got
to the funeral, we were pretty shook up and my uncles decided I could not
be a pall bearer since I might slip, drop the casket and embarass the
family. That was the day I learned
about my sick, toxic hate. That has transferred to every funeral I attend.
That's why I hate funerals, among other things.
